Personal Identity
Who we are is defined by so many things: our family, our culture, group influences in our lives. We take all these things for granted and rarely examine them. It is only when we come into contact with people who are different that we begin to think about who we are.
The workplace and society has always been a diverse place, but conformity has more often been the dominant influence rather than appreciating and developing the difference between people.
With more research on how different we all are and a greater emphasis on the importance of using and deveolping that difference, along with legislation that calls us to promote equality and diveristy, we need to look seriously at how we can work efficiently, productivly and harmoniously in a diverse workplace.
